"Jumping Jack Joe" a Children's Book Online Author and Tree Service entrepreneur C. D. Olson has a long life story. The son of a Paranoid schizophrenic Mother, adopted at the age of 3 by and Aunt and Uncle, his childhood was spent in deep thought trying to understand his place in life. Through this childhood he stumbled onto a book by Shel Silverstein that intrigued his desire to write. Many years later he offers his writings with hopes that others may also be inspired to write. Below is the video version of one of his Children's Book that he posted online. Jumping Jack Joe has Copyrights Reserved in 2018 but is free for you to enjoy and share in this Online Children's Book format. Our hope is that it will inspire others to give to their community in any way they can. Chris currently has a home full of love and children that adore him. His wife is his support and encourages him to share his gift with anyone he can. It is our experience that he has an natural ability to put others before himself on all occasions and this is the secret to his success. Below is a Text Script of the book should you like to read it to your children. Jumping Jack Joe by C. D. Olson Jumping Jack Joe known as the town juggler, was shorter than most, just a small little bugger. His head oh so hairy, he almost looked scary, missing two teeth that he gave the tooth fairy. He lived in the town of Wanfussinbluemussin, and Jack wondered why all his friends he was loosing. He went to the mirror, full of fear, from his eye came a tear, he'd had this strange thing now for almost a year. How his face did contort, as he sat in his tree fort, on his nose was a wart, of the funny kind sort. (it's bad enough he was short!) With friends he can't play, they have mean things to say, so he juggled all day in his own special way. Apples, banana's, a kitty cat flew, he juggled a jellyfish with gentleness too, your face would turn blue of those things he could do. Time went on slow, you know how time goes, that thing on his nose, oh how that thing grows. He tried to remove it with funny time goop, but funny time goop twist his nose in a loop. All things did he try, he even did buy, a face mast for monkey's made out of mud pie. A mirror with powder puffs pink, red and blue, just made him look silly oh what could he do? (should he ask you?) One day while out walking, Jack heard some birds squawking, he looked up to see that the mountain was rocking. Those rock's they did loosen, so Jack started cruising, to warn all the people of Wanfussinbluemussin. Running so fast, even birds did he pass, faster than cars with motors and gas. "I'll Make it" he said "I know that I will!" he ran even faster over Wanfussin Hill. At the top of the hill, with a chill he stood still, turned around slowly and what he saw made him ill. The rocks had been tumbling much faster than he, the sky was all black, only rocks could he see. One by one they fell down, right by his side, "what will I do!" his eyes grew so wide. Jumping Jack Joe knew he had to do something, so rocks did he grab, and he began a juggling. A couple a few, juggling rocks as they flew, big ones and small ones he cared not what he threw. Ten, twenty, thirty, then hundreds went high, a circle of rocks all the way to the sky. With every one, town juggler Jack, went to the mountain to put the rocks back. Such sternness of face, he got to the base, juggling them back, every one in it's place. Little ones, big ones, three, two and one, he worked until done when at last he had none. He turned with a smile and what he saw was amusing, the townspeople cheered from Wanfussinbluemussin. They said "what do you know! it's Jumping Jack Joe! He saved all of us and our town down below" New friends hugged him tight, it was quite a sight, they ran off all playing till day turned to night. Time soon passed by, and the wart went away, yes Jack once looked different, but he looks great today! Hope you enjoyed this Children's Book Video Online. |
Does your Tucson Tree Service need to be Licensed and have Insurance in Arizona?

Does your Tree Service in Tucson need to be Licensed by the ROC? It is a common question that many ask during the course of the year and we wanted to provide and answer when it comes to Tree Service in Tucson. If you ask someone if they are insured does the answer "Yes" mean anything? Or is there more than one insurance needed? All of these answers will be answered in the video by Chris and Amanda's Tree Service on youtube. Our goal is not to talk bad about anyone but to add clarity to the subject that has a cloud over it. This video is a free resource to Tucson, Arizona about ROC Licensing, Insurance and Tree Service. Arizona statutes apply to Phoenix also so if you have this question I assume the answer will apply. We encourage you to find your own answers by going to the roc website azroc.gov or by calling your ROC Licensing department at 1-602-542-1525 ROC Licensing is required for Tree Service in Tucson, Arizona if the contractor does jobs over 1,000$ or Grind Stumps. If they don't ever go over 1,000$ or Grind Stumps they are eligible as a Handyman/Gardener. The problem lies in the fact that no tree service sticks to jobs under 1,000$ because big Tree Removal in Tucson costs more and requires one to Grind Stumps. So why aren't they Licensed? That is a good question that we should all call the ROC about. ROC licensing for Tree Service build confidence in our trade and Trust in the community. If you are a Tucson Tree Trimming guy or gal that never goes over 1,000$ or grinds stumps then don't worry about licensing. We hope you like the video and remember if it gets alot of thumbs down that means it's true. I am sure it will ruffle some feathers and many will booooo it so that they hope the public will not believe the video credible. Facts are Facts, call the ROC yourself if you have any questions. |

Tree Trimming in Tucson. How to trim a Mesquite tree.

Tree Trimming in Tucson is often an adventure. Over the years I have learned to understand the mistakes that are made when it comes to Trimming multi trunk or branched tree's. Tucson is full of tree's that grow 30 feet wide and only 20 feet tall. So it is important to understand the correct way to trim a tree in Tucson. Chris and Amanda's Tree Service is a local combination of education and long time Tucson experience's. This history in Tucson has allowed us to develop a deep understanding of the harmony between desert, freeze, soil and drought. All of these factors are combined to come up with a complete tree trimming doctrine when it comes to our mesquite's. Attached is our video about "How to trim a Mesquite Tree in Tucson" The video above is informative but if video's are not your thing I will continue to explain the inner workings of how to trim a Mesquite Tree in Tucson, Arizona. First thing that one must understand is that Trimming Tree's does not make them healthy. Often one believes that if you love your Tree you will trim it and the tree will be happy. Not True. Cutting opens the cambium layer and exposes the tree to micro organisms, the reaction of the tree is to kill that section off. Trimming is good for the tree when done at infancy to train proper branch growth and structural development. Second thing to consider is that you should attempt to trim your Tucson Tree in a way that you will not have to do it again. With the above said, making educated cuts to train your tree into areas it can grow to maturity is crucial. If a branch will need to be cut year after year it is often beneficial to remove the branch so the tree can dedicate energy to area's that will be allowed to stay. How to Trim a Mesquite Tree? Native Mesquite Tree's are special and different than the Chilean Mesquite. With that said I will attempt to explain trimming in a way that applies to both. Tucson Tree's need their lower branches. First and foremost, do not remove any major branches off your Mesquite tree unless it is necessary. The lower branches increase health by allowing more moisture to be pulled from the ground and are stagers that help pull through evaporation to a certain point. In addition the lower branches are buffering branches for the wind, slowing it down before it hits the top section, removing lower branches will lollipop your Tree and leave it naked for the wind to leverage it and destroy it. Lower branches point out in the direction the wind is coming from increasing their strength. Also leaving the lower branches will keep your top from growing taller and out of control. After identifying the need for lower branches you want to clean the center. Cleaning is the removal of deadwood and shoots. Use caution to not lion's tale your branches too far out as removing shoots to far hurts the tree. You see, shoots are in the process of survival of the fittest and removing the higher up ones very possibly is removing a future branch your tree will need. After cleaning the center your want to layer your tree. This is the removal of minor lower lateral branches off the parent branch that crowd the branch below. Providing a little space will allow room for future growth while allowing would to raise your canopy without removing major branches. Deadwood in the canopy should be left alone as it is directly related to watering not to trimming. If one wants no deadwood in the outer canopy one should water more. (watch our video "how to water a Tree in Tucson" as it is an education on the difference between a textbook and Tucson) Crossing branches should be addressed if smaller than 3 inches. Larger ones should not be removed as it can cause structural failure to the branch that was being supported and is often removing too much of the tree's foliage in a given area. Attention reader! Do not top your branches or attempt to do a crown reduction. Tucson is too dry and cold for this and while phoenix may get away with it, we can not. Reducing the size of your Tree is like asking your 16 year old to stop growing. It's not realistic. If possible you want to trim your tree with increased water before and after and make proper cuts per ANSI Pruning Standards. While chilean mesquites grow like a weed, our Native Velvet does not and you will ruin an artistic desert survivor if you cut aggressively on a Velvet Mesquite in Tucson. We hope this information was helpful and that it helps increase the tree IQ of Tucson. While we are still learning we hope to help other catch up and this will make Tucson a better place. It hurts our heart to see tree's destroyed and while everyone makes mistakes we feel like following this basic guideline of How To Trim a Mesquite Tree in Tucson will help all of us care for the old pueblo in a way that will help future generations. By doing our best Tree Trimming Tucson will be better for years to come. |

Tree Planting Tucson - Good Tree's to Plant in Tucson.

Tucson is unique environment full of Rock, Drought and Freeze conditions. The combination of all of those leads to a new set of rules needing to be written. You see, the Tree Care provided in other parts of the country does not apply to Tucson. Chris and Amanda's Tree Service has confronted the text books and on the job training coming out the other side better for it. Water the drip line? not in Tucson. Plant in full sun? not in Tucson. These are a few of the differences we face in the Old Pueblo. So, with that said, shouldn't the Tree Planting Tucson does be different too? We say yes. For years Tucson has been plagued by nurseries that push and inventory of Pine Tree's, Eucalyptus, Willow Acacia, Sumac's and more. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a sound voice advising what are good tree's to plant in Tucson? Well that day is here. Chris and Amanda's Tree Service is offering video's with information covering a wide spectrum of Tree Service secrets normally paid for. Today we cover Tree Planting Tucson. We have done 2 video's on the subject and I will give you the cliff notes versions. At the top of the list of good tree's to plant in Tucson is the Velvet Mesquite. Great slow growing hard wood tree that is drought tolerant and has artistic branches. Don't cut those lower branches off, they are needed. (watch our video how to trim a tree) Second on our list is the Palo Brea. This is a wide palo verde with artistic branches and very low trimming needs. (we have a video on the 5 palo verde's of Tucson so you can tell them all apart) Third on our list is the little known Twisted Acacia. What a unique tree! Wouldn't Tucson be better if this tree was planted instead of the Sweet Acacia? Who's idea was the Sweet Acacia? Fourth on our list is the Mexican Sycamore. This tree is not for the faint of heart as it will need some watering. Deciduous it drops its leaves and is very easy to clean up because the leaves re the size of dinner plates! This is a great shade tree for those summer months. I have grown one from 10 to 25 feet in 1 year! This is our top 4. We did a second video on unique tree's to plant in Tucson and you will have to watch that one. I will post it along with these words. Remember to give us a THUMBS UP and we answer all questions for advice when you COMMENT on our YouTube videos. We hope this blog was helpful with Tree Planting Tucson and gave you some good Tree's to plant in Tucson. Thanks for all your Love and we will see you next time! Sincerely, Chris and Amanda |

How to water a Tree in Tucson, Arizona.

For years we have been fixing tree's for the Tucson Community. Recently I had the opportunity to meet someone who was charged money to have a tree service inject 60 gallons of water in the soil for her tree. At this point I thought it may be helpful to put a large part of what we have done online for you. Tucson is a different place and during my study in Arboriculture I realized how different. Half of what I learned in a book was not applicable in Tucson. Our soil is so hard it changes the common teaching to incorrect. First mistake.... Watering the drip line. I can not tell you how many people we have helped who have sick or dehydrated tree's that before meeting us had put irrigation in place around the drip line. 1 to 2 years goes by and the tree gets worse until they call us. If you study tree care and the drip line watering plans they assume that the whole circumference is being water. Well, in Tucson if you water the drip line the water never makes it to the root ball which has the most condensed area of roots that you can positively effect. Watering the base in a textbook is a big no no because it will destabilize a tree. Our soil is not destabilized as it is the consistency of cement. With that said, do not water the base in monsoon's because a wet base will allow your tree to go over in a storm much easier. Another text book concern is root rot. As long as you go 2-3 times a week and allow it to dry in between you will have no trouble. The fact is, Landscapers and some tree cutters have no idea how much water a tree needs in Tucson... Again studying a book won't tell you about studies done in Tucson. Anyhow, Landscapers put 1-5 gallon emitters on your tree and then schedule you for 1 hr a day. So your tree gets 5 gallons at best! not enough. And I have seen so called top arborist in Tucson advise people with starving tree's to water the tree 6 hrs avery 30 days. HA! Then the Tree Owner calls me and we help. This help has happened Thousands of times and sometimes there are other underlying issues that we can help address like insects. So below is our deep soak watering plan. It's pretty basic but may be a big help to you in life. We have suffered such drought over the last 20 years that a little help for our tree's is needed. One thing I learned in study is that over 90% of ALL tree born illness is derived from dehydration. This means that a healthy tree is half the battle. As always, Hope the below helps. Watering Plan Often Tree's need individual watering care depending on Genus, Age and Health. Here in Tucson
tree's often have specialized watering needs due our climate and soil conditions. Textbook
watering does not work in our climate with hard soil and dry air. We have developed a specialized
feeding plan to bring tree's back to life and this is the Watering plan to be followed after that
feeding plan.
Water for the months of March, April, May, June, September, October and November. If we have
an excessively hot summer with little rain you can add water during those times but you want to
stay away from watering during Monsoon season as watering the soil will soften the area leaving
your tree open to blowing over in a Microburst. Your watering should consist of leaving a hose
trickle at the base of the tree overnight 2-3 nights a week for the months listed above depending on how sick your tree is. Before you
do that you want to soak the fresh ground mulch, we put in, excessively to bleed down nutrition.
It is important to watch your tree's health while watering and make sure soil dries between
waterings. Other things to look for are leaf scorch, leaf discoloration or wilting can be signs of
water deficiencies.
Remember that tree's do not get healthy overnight, do not loose heart because your tree does not
bounce back in 30 day. Spring growth is derived from fall nutrition and often the watering you are
doing now is going to pay dividends the following year. Follow our plan closely as we have
watched 1000's of tree's show amazing results taking them off deaths door and making them a
vital part of your life again. WATER WITH YOUR SCHEDULE NOT YOUR HEART! As always we are hear to help, please call or email with any questions.
